Hello everyone and welcome to 2017. Another great year has come and gone.
I noticed the other day, on a Facebook post, that a lot of famous people passed away in 2016. I guess that is a big reminder that none of us are here forever, no matter our status. So, while we are here we should do our best and experience as much of life as we can. And, to make a lasting, positive difference in the future of our children, no matter how small that difference may seem.
When I’m called home, I personally don’t want to be remembered as anything less than a compassionate and giving person. One who always tried her hardest to do what was right. Someone who was always willing to help out. I think that I’m well on my way to creating those memories but sometimes I have to stop and think about this mission and reel myself back in. I’m sure that we’ve all had those moments when we don’t do quite enough thinking about our actions. But with another new year ahead of me I can make myself a promise to try to do better.
For the schools I try to think of a theme to go into each new year with. Last year I wanted to work on the “community” aspect of our classrooms. I wanted to make them more welcoming and beautiful. Well, I think that we accomplished a lot but I’ll admit that we still have a ways to go. I’ll continue to work with my staff to add more homelike attributes. And, to include our families more.
My vision for this year is to do our best to teach the children Grace and Courtesy in the classroom and you can work with us to reinforce these habits at home. The teaching of good social skills is a very important part of helping them become successful. Just to mention a couple, we don’t realize how important a simple “please” or “thank you” are until we don’t hear them being used. And, the simple act of holding open a door for someone to pass through is a big deal to me. So, by instilling these good social skills in our children we are helping them grow up to be respectful members of their communities. They will have a better understanding of sharing and be compassionate, loving members of society.
So, I hope that everyone has a healthy and prosperous year ahead. We are thankful to have you with us.
